Back from Moab

We had a good trip to Moab with GaGa and PapPap after we got back from Phoenix. After they left to return to West Virginia, then Sarah and Andrew came down to Moab for a couple days too. Then we came back to Logan and I finished a big grant proposal to the National Institutes of Health and promptly lapsed into a torpor. I have been so sad so many times in the last month thinking of Uncle Charlie, but I am covering a lot of ground still.

I haven't updated the blog in a while, so there is a lot to show you. I will start with GaGa and PapPap's visit to Moab.

Here are Tim and Madi at our first stop in Arches National Park. Madi was very excited. She really loves it there.

Here she is with GaGa and PapPap at the same stop. Her stuffed rabbit Jack had to get out too so he could see his homeland.

Our first little hike was to Windows. Here are GaGa and PapPap at the South Window.

We hiked around the backside of Windows too. Here is Tim and PapPap with both Windows. Henry is in the carrier on Tim's back. He really likes it in there.

Here we are with GaGa on the hike across the backside of Windows. We had really great weather the entire time we were there. It was actually a little cloudy and rainy at points, highs in the 80's.

Next stop, Balanced Rock. Here Henry gets into desert rat mode with a drink from the CamelBak. You will notice Henry has a monkey on his back whenever he is out of the carrier. That is his cleverly disguised leash. We decided the only way he was going to hike around on his own power was at the end of one. His judgement is still developing.

After a picnic lunch, we went to Double Arch. It is always so spectacular.

Madi and I sat for a long time up in Double Arch, just hanging out and taking silly pictures.

Later that afternoon we went to Moonflower Canyon and picked mullberries and looked at petroglyphs. Henry had fun and started picking his own because we were too slow for him.

We got off the beaten path a bit and took a drive past Moonflower Canyon to see some more petroglyphs.

The next day, we went to Island in the Sky, part of Canyonlands National Park. We really liked Henry's leash, even if he sometimes felt a little restrained.

Henry at Grandview Point.

The prickly pear cactus is in bloom this time of year.

Henry and I taking a break at the visitor's center for Island in the Sky.

All of us together at Mesa Arch, our favorite little hike at Island in the Sky.

We had a great time with GaGa and PapPap! We were glad they could come with us to Moab this year.
