Fun Saturday

Madi played a bit on her favorite website, Sid the Science Kid. She does pretty well with the touch-pad as well as the keyboard.

Next we went hiking in Green Canyon. This was a momentous hike, because Madi did it all under her own power for the first time! Just to remind ourselves what it was like last week, Madi got into the backpack. This is what Tim had been doing up until today for at least part of every hike. With the pack, that's about 40 lbs. I had been carrying Henry (Henry + pack = ~30 lbs).

The day was unusually overcast and cloudy for Utah, but we went anyway, because starting tomorrow we are going to have cold rainy/snowy weather for a while. Henry loves hiking, as you can see. He is always happy to go.

We managed to find an ok picnic site.

Next, we realized we had forgotten a spoon for Henry's food. We made do just fine with some toy keys. Uncle James must be having flashbacks about now to that ill-fated backpacking trip sans utensils.

We had a great hike. Henry loved it as always. Madi did well too. She did resort to singing to make it all the way back under her own power.


Next, we went to Coldstone Creamery to get some ice cream. When I asked Madi what her favorite part of the hike was, she said 'the ice cream'!
