Henry is doing well after his surgery. The only side effect so far seems to be major crankiness, but even that is receding steadily over time.
It was a bit of a trick to get everyone where they were supposed to go this morning. I woke up at 4:30 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep. Henry got up at 6 a.m. and was bundled off into the car in his pajamas to get to the hospital by 6:30. The plan was to wake Madi up, get her ready to go, and take her to daycare early. The Roses kindly agreed to have her arrive at 6:45 today. Tim couldn't wake her up, though! He tried and tried, and finally just put her in the car asleep in her pajamas. She did wake up along the way finally. She didn't have her coat or shoes though. Oh well. The Roses took her anyway, and she had a good day. Tim dropped her off just in time, because by the time he got to Salt Lake City for his flight to D.C., his plane was boarding. He had a good flight and made it there fine.
Meanwhile, Henry and I waited at the hospital for his surgery. He didn't have anything to eat or drink since 8 p.m., so I was a little worried about how that would go. With his trusty binky, he was fine. Here he is in his hospital gown and booties waiting to be taken back to surgery. He is of course playing with the bag that says 'this is not a toy.' This confirms he is a second child.
They took him away from the comfy private waiting room to surgery. He was gone about 20 minutes. The doctor said it was a very good decision to have the surgery. He said he vacuumed out lots of yucky stuff from his ears as he was putting in the tubes. They brought Henry back just as he was coming out of the anesthesia. He had a bottle to drink and then started crying. And crying. And crying. Altogether he cried about an hour. Here he is in the car in a brief lull, ready to go home about half an hour into it.
He took a little morning nap and a bigger afternoon nap. He played pretty well during the day, although he was cranky at times. This decreased across the day.
Poor second child - his tractor trailer only has three wheels. He doesn't mind fortunately.
Scott picked up Madi and Ceci from daycare, along with some Firehouse pizza, and brought them to our house for dinner. Henry got a dairy-free version. Here Henry is grinning at Tio Scott. You just have to imagine Scott. Thank you for helping us out Scott! We really appreciate it.

Later, we all had popsicles. Madi was a big help with Henry tonight. The kids had a good bedtime and are sound asleep now. It was a busy day, but it worked out somehow and we are relieved to have it all behind us. We are looking forward to Henry's full recovery!

Stoooop! Why did you have to say that about only three wheels on his plastic truck, it's wringing my heart. (I told you you ought to be a novelist, right?) (I'm not lying: the truck has kicked me over the edge; I'm all sniffly.)
It's amazing how upbeat he is despite being assailed from all sides including inside. Teething, too! Poor, poor little snort. You tell him Aunt Su-su or however you spell me says he's the best little second child there ever was, ever in this world. I have to upgrade this giftpak I have for you all because all there is in there for him is some cruddy wooden-balls-on-wires-in-block-of-wood thing. I am going to give the north florida toddlerbling retail industry a serious economic stimulus package up here in a minute.
Thanks Aunt Su-Su! You make us laugh. And that is a good thing these days.
We will look forward to receiving to the toddler entertainment stimulus package.
We, too, are glad the surgery is behind you. Hope you ALL were able to get some RESTFUL sleep last night.
I like Aunt Su-su's comments. You are BOTH pretty good with words!
Love,
MOM/DAD><>...
